For everyone curious about the house fire, here's the 411: (at least my side of it!)
For all those who are unaware, I live in Coeur d' Alene with my Grandma where I go to North Idaho College (I should really be studying for my Government test right now!) But the point is, I live with my Grandma, in a really old house! There's an apartment just upstairs that she, up until about 8 months ago, always rented out to the missionaries, but now rents it out to a really nice girl! Well, Wednesday night after working all evening I went to a friends house to study and fell asleep! Only to be awakened in the wee-hours of the morning by a phone call from my Uncle. (I was SCARED to DEATH something happened to my Grandma and I wasn't there!) but low and behold it was the house fire.
The girl upstairs wasn't home and that's where the fire started, we think it may have been the curtains on the baseboard heater. But we don't know as the entire apartment is basically gone. Sympathetic I realized since I live in the basement I probably wasn't affected. But this is definitely not the case. When 4 fire trucks dump thousands of gallons of water on an antique house... it turns every room into a rain forest. Everything was swamped, and smells as though it's been sitting in a fire for years. I was only allowed to take bare minimum, and the insurance will take care of everything. the house looks like it's about to collapse, and we're still not sure what's going to happen to it. But what's important is that we're all ok! :)
We were very blessed our nurse neighbor was getting off at the hospital at about 3:30 AM, and woke her husband to call 911 as she sprinted to our house to bang on the door and wake up my Grandma. We don't have any smoke alarms in the downstairs portion of the house.
It's been stressful but thanks so much for your help and prayers! I'm blessed to have such wonderful friends, and I'm sure I'll be getting everything back within 3-4 weeks, but we probably won't move back in!!
